History

M. S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation is a Non Profit Organization founded in the year 1992 by Dr. C. Ramasubramanian, Consultant Psychiatrist, Madurai, with a mission to promote mental health through holistic mental health care, affordable and accessible to all.

The core program interventions of the Trust are:

• Mental health literacy
• Treatment
• Rehabilitation (Institution and Community based)
• Livelihood Promotion
• Human Resources Development
• Networking and Lobbying.

The Trust is one of the leading and biggest mental health care service provider in the State of Tamil Nadu. And is recognized as a Research Center by the Council for Science and Technology, Government of India. The Trust is also a recipient of National and State Awards as a Best NGO in the field of Mental Health.

In order to ensure that mental health services are available and accessible to every individual and to address the wide gap in the availability of mental health professionals, the Trust started this exclusive Institution in the year 2008.
Since its inception, the institution is involved in creating opportunities to develop/strengthen the mental health competence of the mental health practitioners and prospective mental health professionals.
